Abdominoplasty Surgery in Delhi, India

The skin loses its strength and elasticity after major weight changes. Especially women after their pregnancy, if they manage to lose weight, they often struggle to find a solution for their sagging abdominal skin.  However, with abdominoplasty surgery in India, performed at SB Aesthetics, one can eliminate the excessive fat deposits and regain a slimmer, more contoured midsection.

Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck surgery is a great solution to get back a toned abdominal shape. The surgery is most appropriate for people who have experienced pregnancy or have excess loose skin tissues around the abdomen after bariatric surgery. Many women also suffer from abdominal hernias and separated abdominal muscles after childbirth.

The abdominoplasty surgery involves removing excess sagging abdominal skin, pulling and suturing the sagging abdominal muscles, and correcting the shape of the buried or hanging belly button. Along with abdominoplasty surgery, the liposuction treatment is also performed to remove resistant abdominal fat and give a better definition.

The abdominoplasty surgery gives a flatter abdomen contour and a curvier, natural-looking waistline, an hour glass waistline or hour glass figure is also possible by combination of tummy tuck and addition of fat in the buttock and hips.

Types of Tummy Tuck surgery

Abdominoplasty surgery in Delhi, at SB Aesthetics,  involves removing excess skin, so the type of surgery performed is decided by the amount of skin to be removed. Following are the different types of abdominoplasty surgery:

1. Full Abdominoplasty

This type of surgery is performed for bulky pendulous abdomen where large area of the skin is to be removed. In this surgery, the muscles of the lower and upper abdomen are repaired and then sutured. The surgery also corrects the location and shape of the belly button that was buried because of fat and loose skin. This surgery reconstructs the abdominal muscles effectively and makes the belly area look flat.

2. Mini-Abdominoplasty

This surgery is performed when the sagging of abdominal skin is only limited to the lower belly. So, this surgery removes the skin and removes the sagging abdominal skin below the belly button area. This surgery involves a shorter recovery period and the length of the scar is also shorter in comparison to full abdominoplasty. This method is appropriate for people who do not need abdominal muscles tightening and have less laxity of skin and good quality of skin. The most important criteria to select a patient between full and mini tummy tick is the presence of a good quality skin and the strength of the abdominal muscles.

The surgery leaves a scar on the incision area, and the surgeon places the incision so that the scars may be hidden by innerwear and swimwear. These scars often fade with time. Popularly these are called bikini-line scars.

Benefits

  • Strengthen weakened or separated abdominal muscles
  • Better shape and tone of the abdomen
  • Firm and smoother profile
  • Stretch marks of lower abdomen located is removed with the excess skin that is removed.
  • Reduced back pain due to improved posture.

Procedure

Abdominoplasty surgery in Delhi, India, is performed under intravenous or general anesthesia.

Primary incision is made in a horizontal or curvilinear manner at level of pubis and extended on both sides parallel to inguinal crease. The length and shape of the incision are determined by the type of surgery and correction one requires.

Then the surgeon separates the skin from the abdominal wall muscles and performs muscle tightening and suturing. The incision is shaped like an ellipse to remove excess skin from the upper abdomen around the navel. The excess fat and skin is removed, and the upper abdominal skin is stretched down to the lower abdominal area. If required, the belly button is repositioned (in mini Abdominoplasty, the belly button is not repositioned). The operation takes 3-4 hours for a full abdominoplasty, and a mini tummy tuck can take around 2 hours.

For better definition in the abdominal area, liposuction is performed simultaneously with abdominoplasty. Liposuction treatment helps remove fat, and abdominoplasty helps to create a smooth finish. After the surgery, a surgical drain is inserted in the target site that helps to drain the fluid that gets collected under the skin.

After the surgery, the patients must take proper rest and refrain from excessive movement for a month. The sutures are removed after 7 – 10 days and the patient is advised to wear a compression garment for 3-4 weeks to get satisfactory results from abdominoplasty surgery in India.

Inpatient/Outpatient

Either is possible and depends on the patient’s health and the doctor’s preference.

Possible Side Effects

Temporary discomfort, low back pain, post-operative swelling, soreness or tenderness in the surrounding areas, numbness of abdominal skin and bruising are possible side effects.

Risks

Infection, bleeding under the skin flap or at the incision site, pulmonary embolism (a blood clot that travels to the lung), scarring (keloids), delayed healing, or the need for a second reversionary operation are potential risks. However, these are not common.

Recovery

The patient may return to full range of normal activity within two to four weeks. Upon re-evaluation by the surgeon, the patient may return to activity that is more strenuous after approximately four to six weeks. Scars should fade and flatten anywhere from three months to one year after surgery.

Note: Many people who consider a tummy tuck also consider liposuction and a lower body lift. If one is in good general health, has a positive attitude and realistic expectations, one is most likely a good candidate for this procedure.
